What is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
About NSTI

A Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is an education provider approved by the Australian Government to deliver nationally recognised training and qualifications. RTOs adhere to strict standards set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to ensure quality and consistency in training. They offer a wide range of courses across various industries, from vocational education and training (VET) to higher education qualifications. By choosing to study with an RTO, students can be assured that their training meets industry standards and that their qualifications are respected by employers across Australia.

Is National Skills Training Institute an RTO?
About NSTI

Yes, the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia. This means it is accredited to deliver vocational education and training (VET) services, issue nationally recognised qualifications.

NSTI is RTO #41462 and can be confirmed on the Australian Government Website - Click Here

Are your course nationally accredited in Australia?
About NSTI

Yes, all courses offered by the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI) are nationally accredited in Australia. Our programs meet the rigorous standards set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), ensuring that our students receive high-quality, industry-relevant education and training that is recognised nationwide. By enrolling in our courses, you can be confident that your qualifications will be respected and valued across Australia.

What is the difference between a RTO and a non-accredited school?
About NSTIWhile Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) meet strict national standards ensuring high-quality and consistent training, non-accredited trainers do not adhere to these rigorous requirements. This often results in subpar training standards and a lack of accountability. Non-accredited training lacks the assurance of quality and recognition that comes with RTO credentials, leading to qualifications that are NOT accepted by employers or other educational institutions. Opting for a non-accredited trainer can mean missing out on comprehensive and standardised education, making it a less reliable choice for students seeking recognised and credible skills.
What's the difference between NSTI and TAFE?
About NSTITechnical and Further Education (TAFE) is a government-owned RTO that offers education and official diplomas and certificates, primarily through classroom-based delivery. In contrast, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), like the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI), are private institutions that provide nationally recognised training services. One of the key benefits of studying with NSTI is the flexibility it offers; unlike TAFE, we don't have set schedules. Our nationally recognised courses allow you to study anywhere, anytime, fitting your education around your lifestyle.
Will the students receive the same accreditation from NSTI that they would get from other providers like TAFE?
About NSTIYes, you will receive the same accreditation from NSTI that you would get through other education providers like TAFE. As an RTO, we adhere to the same standards and requirements for accreditation. The main difference lies in the higher quality of teaching at NSTI, ensuring you receive the best possible education and training experience.
How do I enrol?
Enrolling

There are four steps. Submit your enrolment form, apply for a USI, provide a form of ID, and choose how you would like to pay.

The full detail for each step is on the Student Hub, and you can start your enrolment at any time.

What is a USI and do I need one?
Enrolling

A Unique Student Identifier is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of the vocational education and training you have completed in Australia.

To complete nationally recognised training you need a USI — without one we cannot award your qualification or statement of attainment. Getting a USI is quick, easy and free through the USI website.

What forms of ID do you accept?
Enrolling

We need a form of identification to support your enrolment and make sure your details match your USI record. Acceptable forms include:

  • Driver’s Licence
  • Medicare Card
  • Australian Passport
  • Visa with a non-Australian passport, for international students
  • Australian Birth Certificate (an extract is not sufficient)
  • Certificate of Registration by Descent
  • Citizenship Certificate
  • ImmiCard
What is the LLND assessment?
Enrolling

The Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital assessment is a short, practical activity that helps us understand how best to support you in your studies.

It is not a test you can pass or fail. If it shows you would benefit from extra help, we put that support in place before you begin.

What payment options do you offer?
Fees & funding

You can pay upfront, spread the cost with a weekly payment plan, or pay by instalments. The options and amounts differ by course, so the current figures are shown on each course page.

Can I get government funding?
Fees & funding

It depends where you live and which course you choose.

In Queensland, three of our qualifications are funded under the Career Start program for eligible students — see Queensland funding.

In New South Wales, our government funded training is delivered through traineeships only — see NSW funding.

What is a traineeship?
Fees & funding

A traineeship combines paid employment with structured training, so you earn while you learn. You are employed under a registered training contract and complete your qualification with us at the same time.

There is more detail, including school based options, on our Traineeships page.

When will I be awarded with my qualification certificate?
Studying with usAt the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI), you will be awarded your qualification certificate once you have successfully completed all required coursework and assessments for your chosen program. Additionally, it is essential that all outstanding fees and charges related to your course have been fully paid. Once these requirements are met, you will receive your certificate, recognising your achievement and allowing you to advance in your career.
How long will my course take?
Studying with us

Our courses are self-paced with up to 12 months to complete. Many students finish sooner.

Completion is based on competency rather than time served, so if you already have relevant experience you may progress more quickly.

How is the training delivered?
Studying with us

Theory is delivered online through our secure Learning Portal, which you can access any time. Practical components are completed in real or simulated animal care environments.

You can reach your trainers directly through the portal whenever you need help.

Can I get credit for study or experience I already have?
Studying with us

Yes. If you have completed identical or equivalent units at another nationally recognised provider you can apply for credit transfer. If you have the skills and knowledge from work or life experience, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.

Both application forms are on our Policies and Forms page.

What support is available if I am struggling?
Studying with us

Quite a lot. We offer academic help, digital skills support, reasonable adjustments for disability or other support needs, and wellbeing support.

Asking for support will not affect your enrolment. See Student Support and Wellbeing, or email admin@petstylistacademy.com.au.
